Birthplace Of Legends: From A Shed In Commerce To A Field In Frederick, See Where 8 Local Athletes Got Their Start

Oklahoma has its share of sports legends. From Mickey Mantle to Shannon Miller, the Sooner State has a rich history in sports.

This summer, we wanted to take a look at where some of our local legends came from and what their town — or a specific place — is like today.

Our summer sports intern, Dekota Gregory, along with photo intern Emma Howells spent part of their summer going to places such as Frederick, Binger and Commerce.

For this project, a list of 10 athletes were selected. Most were born in Oklahoma, but they didn't have to be. They just had to spend their formative years here.
