Jerry Jones isn't ready to address Ezekiel Elliott's off-field trouble until he gets more information.
The Cowboys owner revealed he has spoken with the star running back since his alleged altercation at a Dallas bar Sunday night, but said he hasn't talked to any league officials regarding the incident.
"First of all, I haven’t spoken to anyone at the NFL, but I have detail, some detail. More to get," Jones said at a Tuesday press conference, via the Dallas Morning News. "Certainly as you can imagine, and I appreciate why, but probably could count the way things are, and so I’ll be getting more detail and will be commenting on if there’s any comment from me, which you need in the future.
"I actually don’t know the status, but I surely don’t want to speculate about any decisions from the league or any potential injury or lack of having a player available. Availability is a key. Ability is a key. But availability is a key, and we really do plan personnel-wise, we plan for a player not being available. That’s just part of our DNA."
While Jones would not go into detail about how his conversation with Elliott unfolded, he discussed how the rusher's actions can potentially affect the entire team and the fans that follow the franchise.

"The biggest message is not one that has to be stated," Jones said. "That is that your actions impact an entire team, impact an entire fan base, there's a lot of responsibility there. To the team it's a reminder of the interest that's in your actions and behavior."
Elliott, who is also appealing a 100 mph speeding ticket he received in Frisco, Texas in April, has been accused of punching a DJ amid the Sunday skirmish. The NFL's leading rusher in 2016 is already awaiting word on potential punishment from the NFL stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident in July 2016.
