Davenport football lands four on All-GLIAC Teams

BAY CITY, Mich. - The 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Football postseason awards have been announced after voting conducted by the league's coaches. Davenport had a total of four players named to the postseason teams in their first year in the GLIAC.

Junior defensive tackle 

Derrick Calloway (Bradenton, Fla.) was named Second Team All-GLIAC. Calloway led all defensive linemen on the team with 39 tackles. He recorded 5.5 tackles for loss of 21 yards and forced a pair of fumbles.

"We are so excited about Derrick being selected to all-conference this year," said head coach Sparky McEwen. "He is one of our captains and will lead us into the offseason. His high energy and athleticism makes him a force to contend with in the middle!"

Joining Calloway as members of the Honorable Mention list are redshirt sophomore 

Brian Williams (Detroit, Mich.), junior 

Deonte Reynolds(Richmond, Calif.) and redshirt sophomore 

Kye Black (Fort Wayne, Ind.).

Williams ranked fourth on the team and first among secondary players with 56 tackles. He led the GLIAC with five interceptions and set the school record with three in a game against Northwood. He registered four tackles for loss of seven yards.

Reynolds teamed up with Calloway at defensive tackle to form a formidable duo. He finished the season with 30 tackles including two tackles for loss of 10 yards.

Black led the team with 82 tackles this season which also ranked ninth in the conference. He also ranked seventh in the league with six sacks for a loss of 34 yards. Black set the school record for tackles (18), sacks (3) and tackles for loss (5.5) in a game at Michigan Tech.
