Mother Faces Judge Following Methadone Death Of 3 Year Old

A 25-year-old Stafford woman pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter on Friday for leaving liquid methadone accessible to her 3-year-old son, who drank the opioid and died.

A judge then sentenced Jessica York to seven years in prison and two years of special parole as part of a plea agreement negotiated by Tolland State’s Attorney Matthew C. Gedansky and Tolland public defender David Channing.

York had left the drug on a nightstand and accessible to her son, Leon Lapierre, state police said.
