No Bond For Man Accused Of Killing Estranged Wife, 2 Children And Shooting At Officers

Bond has been denied for a man accused of killing the mother of his child. An Aiken County Judge made the decision Wednesday to not let 21-year-old James Michael Hooper II, walk out of jail.

This after the mother of his child was found dead last week by her mother. Some of Melissa "Missy" Clary's friends are devastated by the loss.

"She's so pretty, just look at her eyes."

Scrolling through photos on social media, two cousins, Haley and Elena, remember their friend. Days ago, their life changed forever. Missy's own mother found her dead in her home. According to the Aiken County coroner, she was strangled and had blunt force trauma to her head.

"Missy did everything she could for her child. She was always there for him, she was always there for her family, she was always there for her friends. And one thing that I know Missy loved to do with me, we loved to go out, we loved to be outgoing, get our nails done. She was such a good person and I just really wish I could do that one more time with her," said Haley Sparks, Missy's friend.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office believes they have their man. The father of her young son is charged with her murder. Haley said she noticed something strange at Missy's memorial.

"He said to me that he couldn't believe that something like this would happen to her and he just wanted to know who and how they could do something like that to her. He just looked me in the eye and said it. You could tell something was definitely wrong, he was feeling something," Haley recalled.

Hooper turned himself in the day he was identified as a suspect in her murder. Since Judge Rushton did not grant him bond, he will remain behind bars. Missy's friends believe that's the best thing, for now. As they remember the good times, they wish they'd seen a sign.

"It hurts to know that if there were signs previously, that she felt like she had nowhere to go and she felt like she couldn't confide in anyone," said Elena Gallegos, who attended Fox Creek High School with Missy

According to a news release from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, the two were involved in an on again, off again relationship.

Clary's friends say she and Hooper at one point were even engaged.
