Review: Sony Xperia XZ1

Sony Mobile has started to roll out an update to three of its Xperia smartphones Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. All the three phones will be updated to the new firmware build number 47.1.A.12.235 from 47.1.A.12.205. The update primarily adds July 2018 Android security patches. The update has been rolled out almost a week after Google released it for Nexus and Pixel smartphones.

The July security patch resolved 11 issues in the update dated 2018-07-01 and 32 for 2018-07-05. “Vulnerabilities range from high to critical, with the most severe relating to the media framework and a remote attacker possibly executing arbitrary code through a crafted file," Google had said.  There are no reports of users being hit by these security flaws. In its 2017 year in review of Android security, Google said that 30 per cent more devices are getting patches compared to the prior year.
