String Theory To Host Annual Family Concert With WindSync

String Theory, in partnership with Lee University and the Hunter Museum of American Art, will host its annual Family Concert on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. at the museum. The concert will feature a special performance with WindSync presenting an interactive and educational retelling of Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” complete with costumes and choreography.

Review for WindSnync:

This program, inspired by storytelling, will take audiences on an imaginative, musical journey which introduces the five wind instruments of WindSync, cultivates an appreciation for classical music, and develops new ways of listening.

A prizewinning Houston-based wind quintet, WindSync is internationally recognized for dramatic, engaging, and fully-memorized concert presentations that often feature collaborators from the worlds of music, dance, and multimedia.

WindSync’s visit is part of the annual String Theory Residency Program featuring several performances including a concert in Lee University’s Pangle Hall for Cleveland schoolchildren on Monday, as well as various Chattanooga schools, a master class at Lee on Friday, and a concert at Alexian Brothers on Sunday.

This event is funded in part by grants from South Arts and the Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the National Endowment of the Arts.

Tickets are $15 for adults, while free for Hunter members, String Theory subscribers and patrons, and children 17 and under. There will be no advanced tickets available.
