Suspect Arrested In Wednesday Night Stabbing, Victim In Serious Condition


BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) -

Bryan police have arrested a man for a stabbing Wednesday night.

Police say Wakeem Mathis, 34, was at the Shamrock Village Apartments in the 500 block of Wayside Drive.

A witness told police they saw Mathis run from the apartment around 8:00 p.m. followed by the victim and two other people. The victim was taken to the hospital and is currently in a medically induced coma. He's listed in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.

Officers tracked down Mathis at his home shortly after being called out to the scene. Police say he also had several cuts on his arms and admitted to carrying a knife on his person. Authorities are still trying to figure out what caused the incident.

Mathis is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
