The NEW Tudor Heritage Blue Black Bay Review

Tudor is undoubtedly a brand on the rise. With strong products and solid communication to back it, the brand appeals to people with an adventurous spirit who are keen on the outdoor life. Its latest tagline “Born to Dare” pretty much encapsulates everything the imprint wants to present or achieve. One particularly successful collection is the ever-growing Tudor Heritage Black Bay, which welcomed a bronze model last year. Now, a chronograph model is added and it got everyone talking, as it is technically interesting and commercially reasonable – that means the price is very good!

Modern Classic: Tudor Black Bay Chronograph Ref. 79350 (and price)

For general watch lovers, the Heritage Black Bay Chronograph can be a sports watch to depend on with a self-winding movement, date display, 45-minute chronograph and exceptional water resistance of 200 metres. The watch can be worn with a stainless steel bracelet, a brown leather strap with folding clasp or a dark blue woven fabric strap with buckle. Each attachment option gives this timepiece a different look to suit different dress code needs.

Things get more interesting for people who follow watches more closely as they would know where to look and what to look for. There are, of course, the angular snowflake hands as found in Tudor watches delivered to the French Navy in the 1970s. Also, the crown design is from Reference 7924 in 1958, but with a black-lacquered engraving of the Tudor rose symbol. This watch may not be equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel with minute scale like the other Heritage Black Bays, but its fixed tachymeter bezel reminds one of the link it had with the world of motorsports back in the 1970s.

Let us not neglect to mention the movement, as this is where the “collaborative” aspect of the watch is found. Instead of using the same ETA 2892 movement with Dubois Dépraz chronograph module as in the Tudor Heritage Chronograph watch, the new self-winding Calibre MT5813 is a manufacture chronograph movement whose origin can be traced back to the Breitling 01, but with Tudor’s own regulating mechanism installed. This MT5813 movement with column wheel and vertical clutch is chronometer certified by COSC. It is the first of such collaborations between Tudor and Breitling and we are excited to see where this partnership takes both brands.
