Bryan Cranston is an American actor known for his roles in the TV shows 'Malcolm in the Middle' and 'Breaking Bad'.
Childhood: Bryan Cranston was born in Canoga Park, California. His parents are radio actress Peggy Sell and actor and producer Joseph L. Cranston. He attended Canoga Park High School and Los Angeles Valley College where he got an associate degree in police science.
Acting career: Bryan Cranston starred in several commercials in his early acting career for products such as Lay's potato chips, Excedrin, Honda Accord, and Coffee-Mate. His first TV role was in an episode of 'CHiPs' in 1982 which he soon followed with a two year stint on the show 'Loving'. He portrayed the astronaut Buzz Aldrin in the HBO series 'From the Earth to the Moon' in 1998 and played a similar role in 1996 movie 'That Thing You Do!' He had the recurring role of dentist Dr. Tim Whatley in the sitcom 'Seinfeld' between 1994 and 1997. Among his other TV stints are a recurring role on 'The King of Queens', guest spots on 'Babylon 5', 'The Flash', 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' and 'How I Met Your Mother'. In 1999, he directed and wrote the drama movie 'Last Chance'. 2000 saw him land his first major role in the TV series 'Malcolm in the Middle' which earned him three Emmy nominations. Following that, he appeared in the Christmas comedy ''Twas the Night' in 2001 and the family movie 'Little Miss Sunshine' in 2007. He has also done voice acting for a number of anime series including 'Royal Space Force - The Wings of Honneamise', 'Macross Plus' and 'Armitage III Polymatrix'. 2008 saw him in his second major role as the terminally ill chemistry teacher Walter White in 'Breaking Bad' which won him three Emmys. He has since has supporting roles in 'The Lincoln Lawyer', 'Drive', 'Contagion', 'John Carter', 'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted', 'Rock of Ages' and, most recently, 'Argo'.
Personal Life: Bryan Cranston first married at 23 to the writer Mickey Middleton but it ended in divorce. When he was 35, he remarried to Robin Dearden after they met on the 'Airwolf' in 1984. They have one daughter, Taylor Dearden Cranston, who studies theatre studies at the University of Southern California. He played baseball as a student, collects baseball memorabilia and supports the Los Angeles Dodgers.
