Madeleine Albright served as US secretary of state from 1997 to 2001. She is chairwoman of the Albright‎ Stonebridge Group, a global strategic advisory and commercial diplomacy firm. She is also chairwoman of the National Democratic Institute, a nonprofit organization created by the US government that promotes and supports democracies overseas. David E. Price, a Democrat, is the US Representative for North Carolina's 4th congressional district and is the Ranking Member of the House Democracy Partnership, a bipartisan Commission of the House of Representatives that works in emerging democracies to promote responsive, effective, and transparent legislative institutions.
